Local SEO for Businesses Serving Several Towns: What to Include in Your Website Project

October 13, 2026 • 3 min read

A business serving several towns needs to explain where it works and what customers can expect. It does not automatically need one page for every postcode. Include location pages when they provide distinct useful information, rather than creating copies with a different town name.

Map real coverage

Define your travel area, service availability and any practical limits. A garden maintenance company may serve a wider area for major tree work than for regular visits. Explain those differences so the website does not attract unsuitable requests.

Use genuine examples and approved photographs where available. Do not invent a local office, customer or completed project. If a location has no distinctive evidence or service detail, a clear coverage section may be more appropriate than another landing page.

Connect services and locations

Keep main service pages as the detailed explanation of the work. Location information can clarify availability, relevant projects and enquiry requirements. Link the pages so customers can move from the area they live in to the service they need.

For quotations, collect the site location and enough detail to assess fit. Make clear whether a visit is required and how the next step is arranged. Useful local pages answer practical purchase questions, not merely repeat town names.

Scope content and maintenance

Ask the agency which locations justify separate pages and why. Request a content plan showing what is genuinely different. Include internal linking, metadata and checks that pages remain current when service coverage changes.

Measure enquiries by service and area where feasible. More impressions from distant towns are not a success if your team cannot serve them. Prioritise relevance over the number of pages produced.

What to include in the brief

  • Actual coverage by service, including exclusions.
  • Verified projects and approved local evidence.
  • One distinct purpose for each proposed location page.
  • A process for updating areas and routing enquiries.

Commission the smallest set of pages that explains your real coverage well. Expand when customer demand and unique information justify it.

A brief you can use to compare proposals

Use the following as an illustrative procurement check, not a promise of results or a fixed package. Ask the provider to turn it into named deliverables, exclusions and a test you can witness before accepting the work.

Create a location page only when its service details, evidence and enquiry context are meaningfully different.

A published example to inspect

A website for tree care and garden maintenance in Zoersel, connecting service discovery, practical advice and site-visit enquiries. Visitors can start with a service, a completed-work example or practical advice, then describe their situation through the enquiry form. Phone and WhatsApp links offer direct alternatives; optional photo guidance helps visitors prepare their request.

This published example illustrates presentation and visitor flow. It is not evidence of a conversion uplift, a ranking position or a price for your own project. Compare the scope you need with the capabilities actually demonstrated, then ask what would be different for your business.

Primary reference

Google Business Profile. Use the reference to check terminology and platform requirements when briefing a provider; the proposal still needs to define your own implementation and responsibilities.
