A consultant’s website should make the right client recognise a relevant problem and understand your approach. If enquiries are consistently a poor fit, a redesign should examine positioning and qualification before visual style. More visitors are not automatically better opportunities.
Make your specialisation concrete
Explain the situations you help with, the client types you serve and the work you deliver. “Strategic transformation” is less useful than describing a real decision or operational constraint. State limits where they prevent unsuitable requests.
Use approved case material with clear boundaries around your contribution. If confidentiality prevents naming a client, describe the process without fabricating evidence. Distinguish an illustrative example from a completed engagement.
Explain how clients buy
Present your engagement models: diagnostic workshop, defined project or ongoing advisory work, if those are actually offered. Describe outputs, responsibilities and the first conversation. Pricing context can clarify scope even when final fees depend on the brief.
A contact form can ask about the problem, organisation and desired timing without becoming an interrogation. Explain what the discovery call is for and avoid implying that every request will receive a free full strategy.
Connect content to services
Articles should address the decisions potential clients face before commissioning work. Link them to the relevant consulting offer rather than ending with a generic newsletter invitation. Keep practical buying information easy to find from the homepage.
Ask the agency to include copywriting, evidence organisation and enquiry measurement in the scope. A visual redesign that preserves vague wording may leave the original problem untouched.
Project checklist
- Define your best-fit and unsuitable clients.
- Identify approved evidence and actual deliverables.
- Explain engagement options and the first meeting.
- Track qualified conversations rather than all form submissions.
Request a proposal focused on clarity and fit. A successful redesign should support useful sales conversations, while your expertise and sales process determine whether those conversations become work.
A brief you can use to compare proposals
Use the following as an illustrative procurement check, not a promise of results or a fixed package. Ask the provider to turn it into named deliverables, exclusions and a test you can witness before accepting the work.
State the engagement type, suitable client profile and minimum information needed for a useful discovery call.
A published example to inspect
A website for building insulation and renovation of the building envelope, presenting services and guiding homeowners towards a quotation. The navigation connects insulation, façades, roofing and windows with guides and quotation entry points, letting visitors start with their own renovation needs.
This published example illustrates presentation and visitor flow. It is not evidence of a conversion uplift, a ranking position or a price for your own project. Compare the scope you need with the capabilities actually demonstrated, then ask what would be different for your business.
