What This Policy Covers

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies we use on the Webility website (webility.local), why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.

This policy applies to all visitors to our website, regardless of location. It is part of our commitment to transparency under the GDPR (EU/UK), Quebec Law 25 (Canada), CCPA/CPRA (California), ePrivacy Directive (EU), and other applicable privacy and electronic communications laws.

This Cookie Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy [webility.local/privacy] and Terms of Service [webility.local/terms].

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners.

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or malware. They cannot access other files on your device.

Related Technologies

This policy also covers similar tracking technologies, including:

TechnologyDescription
Local StorageStores data in your browser beyond the session, without expiry
Session StorageStores data for the duration of a single browser session only
Pixels / Web BeaconsTiny invisible images embedded in pages or emails that signal when content has been loaded or an action taken
JavaScript TagsCode embedded in pages that collects data about user behavior
FingerprintingCollecting device/browser attributes to create a unique identifier — We do not use fingerprinting

2. Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep our website functioning correctly and securely
  • Remember your preferences and language settings
  • Understand how visitors navigate and use our website (analytics)
  • Measure the effectiveness of our content and marketing
  • Enable social sharing functionality
  • Comply with legal requirements (e.g., recording your cookie consent)

We do not use cookies to:

  • Build advertising profiles for sale to third parties
  • Target you with advertising on other websites (unless you have consented to marketing cookies that enable this)
  • Collect sensitive personal information (health, financial, etc.)

3. Types of Cookies We Use

We categorize cookies into four types. Your consent is required for all but the Essential category.

3.1 Essential / Strictly Necessary Cookies

Consent required? No — these are necessary for the website to function.

These cookies are set automatically when you visit our website. Without them, you cannot navigate the site or use its core features. They do not store any personally identifiable information beyond what is necessary for the session.

Examples:

  • Session management (keeping you logged in if you have an account)
  • Security cookies (CSRF protection, fraud prevention)
  • Load balancing cookies (distributing traffic across servers)
  • Cookie consent preference storage (remembering your consent choice)

Legal basis: Strictly necessary — no consent required under applicable law, as these are required for the website to function as requested by the user.

3.2 Functional / Preference Cookies

Consent required? Yes (EU/UK/Quebec) | Optional elsewhere

These cookies allow our website to remember choices you make and provide enhanced, more personalized features.

Examples:

  • Language and region preference
  • Display preferences (e.g., accessibility settings)
  • Remembering form fields across pages

Legal basis: Consent (GDPR / Law 25) | Legitimate interests where consent is not required.

3.3 Analytics & Performance Cookies

Consent required? Yes (EU/UK/Quebec) | Opt-out available (California)

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website — which pages are visited, where users come from, how long they stay, and where they leave. This information is used in aggregate to improve the website.

Examples:

  • Google Analytics 4 (website traffic analysis)
  • Hotjar or Microsoft Clarity (session recordings and heatmaps — if active)
  • Core Web Vitals monitoring

Legal basis: Consent (GDPR / Law 25) | Legitimate interests where consent is not required, subject to opt-out.

3.4 Marketing / Targeting Cookies

Consent required? Yes — in all jurisdictions

These cookies track your online activity to help deliver targeted advertising and measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. They may be set by us or by third-party advertising partners.

Examples:

  • Meta Pixel (Facebook / Instagram ad retargeting) — [if active]
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag — [if active]
  • Google Ads conversion tracking — [if active]

Legal basis: Explicit consent required in all applicable jurisdictions. Note: If you have not consented to marketing cookies, you will not be tracked for advertising purposes across our website.
