# Content handover guide

Organise a clear, maintainable website handover.

## Content ownership

Name the editor and approval owner for each content area. Keep source texts and approved images in a shared, organised location.

## Safe editing

Use the project’s designated editor role. Preview changes before publication, and check headings, links, image crops and locale variants.

## Access and credentials

Keep accounts under the appropriate owner. Use scoped invitations and the agreed secure access channel rather than emailing passwords or embedding keys in documents.

## Support and changes

Document what the editor can change and what needs technical support. Record the page URL, expected behavior and reproduction steps when asking for help.

## A practical check

Ask an editor to change one service paragraph and replace one approved image in a preview. Check desktop and mobile output before publication, including links and alt text. Document which fields can be edited, who approves each language and how to recover an earlier version. Keep domain, hosting and CMS ownership distinct. Record the renewal and support contacts, and request a separate quote for changes outside the agreed editing tools.
